๐งญ Getting started with riggr
riggr is a fishing log built for Great Lakes trolling: catches, trips, a working lake map, and the anglers you fish with. This guide gets you from a fresh install to knowing where everything lives โ it takes about two minutes, most of it optional.
1. Your account
Sign up with email and password, or Continue with Google. On iPhone there's also Sign in with Apple. One account works everywhere โ the phone app and the web dashboard at riggr.app stay in sync.
One thing worth knowing: stick with the sign-in method you started with. Sign in with Apple creates its own account โ it won't find the catches you logged under a Google or email login.
2. First-run setup: boat, port, species
On your first sign-in riggr asks three quick screens' worth of questions: your boat name, your home port and home lake, and the species you target. None of it is required โ Skip for now is right there โ and all of it is editable later from the Me tab.
It's worth the minute, though: your boat name rides along on trips, and your home screen greets you with your boat and port instead of a blank card.
3. Finding your way around
Phone: six tabs along the bottom.
- Home โ your day at a glance: current conditions (air, water, waves, wind), your active trip if one's running, big Start a trip and Log a catch buttons, season stats, and recent catches.
- Map โ the lake map. Big enough that it has its own guide.
- Lake โ the water: ports, waypoints, and events.
- Dock โ the people: community feed, anglers, groups, and messages.
- Tools โ the workbench (more below).
- Me โ your profile, your data (catches, trips, waypoints, boat profile), settings, and app info.
The orange + button floats bottom-right on every tab and fans out into quick actions: Log catch, Flurry mode, Start trip, Add waypoint, Post, and Share catch. When you only remember one control, remember that one.
Web: sign in at riggr.app and the dashboard mirrors the phone โ the same sections (Home, Map, Lake, Dock, Tools, Me, plus My Spread) live in the left sidebar. Anything you log on one shows up on the other.
4. What's in Tools
The Tools tab is split into On the water โ My Spread, Reel Calculator, Depth Charts, Voice Log โ and Identify & shop โ AI Bait ID, the lure Catalog and My Tackle Box, and Swap Meet for used gear. (On Android there's also Smart Troll.) Tools marked with a ๐ PREMIUM badge are part of the Premium plan; everything else is free.
5. What's New and app updates
- What's New: riggr ships fixes constantly, and the app keeps its own changelog. Phone: Me tab โ What's new (the latest items are also listed near the bottom of the Me tab). Web: Me โ What's New.
- Updates install themselves. The app checks for the newest version each time you open it and downloads it in the background โ the new version takes over the next time the app starts. So when you hear โa fix just shipped,โ fully close and reopen the app twice and you're on it.
- Impatient (or troubleshooting)? Me tab โ scroll to the bottom โ Check for updates now grabs and applies the latest immediately. The Build info panel right above it shows exactly which version you're running โ handy if you ever email support.
Set up, oriented โ now put a fish in the log: ๐ log your first catch โ
