Terms of Service
The rules of the road
Last updated: May 3, 2026
1. Agreement
By using riggr (the "Service"), operated by riggr LLC, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
2. Who can use riggr
You must be 13 or older to use riggr. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure — don't share your password.
3. Your content
Catches, trips, waypoints, posts, photos, and other content you put into riggr belong to you. By using the Service, you grant riggr a limited license to store, display, and process your content as needed to operate the Service — nothing more.
You're responsible for what you post. Don't post content that:
- Infringes someone else's copyright or trademark
- Is illegal, harassing, defamatory, hateful, or obscene
- Impersonates someone else
- Promotes fishing in violation of local regulations, closed seasons, or protected species rules
- Contains malware, spam, or phishing
We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms.
4. Subscription plans
riggr has a free plan and a Premium subscription that unlocks features listed on the pricing page.
Plans and pricing (auto-renewing):
- riggr Premium — Monthly: $13.99 / month, auto-renewing each month after a 7-day free trial.
- riggr Premium — Annual: $99.99 / year (≈$8.33/month), auto-renewing each year after a 7-day free trial.
How auto-renewal works: Subscriptions automatically renew at the same price for the same period unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period.
How to cancel:
- iOS (Apple App Store): Settings app → your Apple ID name → Subscriptions → riggr → Cancel Subscription. You can also manage from inside the riggr app: Profile → Manage Subscription.
- Web (Stripe): Sign in at riggr.app → Profile → Manage Subscription → Cancel.
Canceling stops the next renewal; your Premium access continues through the end of the current paid period.
Payment processing: On iOS, payment is processed by Apple via In-App Purchase and governed by the standard Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement. On the web, payment is processed by Stripe.
Refunds: Web (Stripe) refund requests within 14 days of purchase will be honored in full; after 14 days, refunds are at our discretion. App Store refunds are handled by Apple per Apple's policies — request through reportaproblem.apple.com.
We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days notice. Active subscribers are charged the old rate for the remainder of their current billing period.
5. Fishing data is for reference only
riggr displays NOAA bathymetry, buoy weather, marine forecasts, and estimated bait dive depths as a reference tool. These are estimates and forecasts, not guarantees.
You are solely responsible for safe operation of your boat. Depth contours don't replace a chartplotter. Weather forecasts can be wrong. Use marine-grade navigation tools for actual navigation, and check current conditions before heading out.
riggr is not responsible for any injury, property damage, or loss arising from your use of the information displayed in the app.
6. Fishing regulations are your responsibility
Fishing regulations — bag limits, size limits, seasons, licensing, gear restrictions — vary by state, province, water body, and year. riggr does not enforce or verify regulatory compliance. It's your responsibility to know and follow the rules in your jurisdiction.
7. AI features
Voice Log transcription, Bait ID identification, and trip summaries are AI-generated and may contain mistakes. Always review AI-generated content before relying on it. riggr is not responsible for inaccuracies in AI output.
8. Community conduct
Follow other anglers, share posts, join groups — but don't harass people, don't spam, and don't scrape or bulk-download other users' content. Specific rules are in our Community Guidelines. Violations may result in account suspension or termination without refund.
For copyright takedowns, see our DMCA Policy.
8a. Swap Meet (peer-to-peer marketplace)
riggr's Swap Meet feature lets users post used fishing gear for sale and connect with other users to arrange a transaction. riggr is not a party to any sale conducted via Swap Meet. We don't take a cut, we don't process payments between buyer and seller, and we don't hold inventory.
When you list an item, you represent that:
- You own the item or are authorized to sell it.
- The listing accurately describes the item's condition.
- The item is legal to sell in your jurisdiction.
- You'll honor the price you list (or remove the listing).
When you buy, you understand:
- No warranty. Items sold via Swap Meet are sold “as is.” riggr makes no representations about condition, authenticity, or fitness for purpose.
- You arrange payment and shipping directly with the seller. riggr does not facilitate the transaction.
- Disputes are between you and the other user. riggr will cooperate with reasonable requests for information when investigating fraud, but is not responsible for resolving disputes.
Counterfeit, stolen, or illegal items are prohibited and will be removed. Repeat violations result in account termination. Suspected fraud should be reported to hello@riggr.app and, where applicable, to law enforcement.
Tax responsibility: sellers are responsible for any taxes owed on their transactions. riggr does not collect, remit, or report sales tax on Swap Meet transactions, and does not issue 1099-Ks. If you reach federal or state thresholds for marketplace seller reporting, that's your responsibility to track and report.
9. Termination
You can delete your account at any time by contacting us. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon account deletion, your data is removed per our Privacy Policy.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We don't warrant that fishing data, weather forecasts, or AI output will be accurate.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, riggr's total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100, whichever is greater. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in courts located in Michigan.
12a. App Store / Play Store terms
If you obtained the riggr mobile app from the Apple App Store, the standard Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app. To the extent it conflicts with these terms, the Apple EULA governs your relationship with Apple. You acknowledge:
- These terms are between you and riggr LLC, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (the app is currently free; this clause exists for compliance).
- Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you.
If you obtained the app from Google Play, similar terms apply per the Google Play Terms of Service.
12b. Data rights and account deletion
You can delete your riggr account at any time from Profile → Delete account in either the web app or the mobile app. Deletion is permanent and not reversible. On deletion:
- Your private data (waypoints, follows, group memberships, port favorites, user locations, message reactions) is removed immediately.
- Your auth record is deleted; you can't log back in with the same credentials.
- Posts and direct messages you sent stay visible to recipients with your display name shown as “[deleted].” This preserves the integrity of conversations other users are still engaged in.
- Catches, trips, and tracks are anonymized (your user_id detached). This preserves the public record of your contributions to community content like nearby-catches lists.
For data export requests (GDPR Article 20 portability or similar) email hello@riggr.app. We'll respond within 30 days.
For California residents (CCPA / CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of your data. riggr does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. See our privacy policy for full details.
12c. Dispute resolution
Most disagreements can be resolved by emailing hello@riggr.app first. We commit to a good-faith response within 14 days. The vast majority of issues can be sorted out this way without anyone needing to escalate.
If informal resolution doesn't work, any legal claim must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, as set out in Section 12 (Governing law). You and riggr LLC each waive any right to a jury trial for claims arising under these terms, except where prohibited by applicable law.
We may add binding arbitration to this section before riggr graduates from beta to general availability. If we do, we'll give active users at least 30 days advance notice with a clear opt-out option, in line with Section 13 (Changes to these terms).
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, give active users at least 30 days notice. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
