How to be a good shipmate

Last updated: May 3, 2026

riggr is built for serious anglers. We want it to feel like the dock at the end of a long day — sharing what worked, what didn't, and where the fish were biting. These guidelines exist to keep that vibe.

Violations may result in content removal, temporary suspension, or permanent account termination depending on severity and history.

Be respectful

  • No harassment, bullying, hate speech, or targeted attacks.
  • No discrimination or slurs based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or veteran status.
  • Disagreements about technique, gear, or fishing philosophy are welcome — personal attacks are not.

Fish responsibly

  • Follow the regulations. Don't post catches that violate bag limits, size limits, closed seasons, or species protections in effect at the time of the catch. If you're not sure of the rules, check with your state DNR before posting.
  • Don't encourage poaching. Bragging about over-limits, taking protected species, fishing in closed waters, or other illegal practices will be removed.
  • Be honest about your catches. Don't fake catches, inflate weights, or pass off old photos as current.
  • Respect other anglers' spots. Don't share GPS coordinates of waypoints, spots, or hot zones that someone else marked private — even if you happened to fish near them.

No spam or scams

  • No bulk promotional posts, affiliate links to off-topic products, or duplicate content across multiple groups/channels.
  • No phishing, fake giveaways, fake charters, fake guides, or impersonation of real businesses.
  • Charter captains and tackle businesses are welcome to post, but keep it relevant — share trip reports, gear advice, or actual availability, not pure ads.

No illegal or harmful content

  • No content that's illegal under U.S. federal law or the law of the state where it was posted.
  • No threats of violence, doxing (publishing someone's private contact info without consent), or sharing of others' private images.
  • No CSAM or content sexualizing minors. This is an immediate permanent ban + reporting to NCMEC.
  • No malware, phishing links, or malicious code.
  • No content that infringes someone else's copyright or trademark — see our DMCA policy for takedowns.

Photos and personal content

  • Don't post photos of other people without their consent, especially children.
  • Watermarks, business logos, and product photography you have rights to are fine.
  • Adult content is not permitted on riggr — keep it appropriate for an all-ages angling community.

Direct messages

  • DMs are private but not exempt from these guidelines. Threats, harassment, or solicitation in DMs is reportable and will be acted on.
  • If someone is messaging you in a way that violates these guidelines, use the report and block features in the conversation menu.

Reporting

Found something that breaks these rules? Use the Report option on any post, comment, or profile, or email hello@riggr.app. Reports are reviewed by an admin within 48 hours during normal operating periods.

For urgent issues — credible threats of violence, exploitation of minors, or active scams — flag the report as urgent and contact us directly.

Enforcement

Depending on severity and history of violations, we may take any of these actions:

  • Content removal — your post or comment is hidden.
  • Warning — first-time minor violations.
  • Temporary suspension — repeated minor violations or first-time serious ones.
  • Permanent ban — egregious violations (illegal content, repeat offenses, ban evasion, threats).

We log all moderation actions for our own records. If you believe an action was taken in error, reply to the notification email or contact hello@riggr.app within 14 days for review.

Changes

These guidelines evolve as the community grows. Material changes will be announced in-app. Continued use of riggr after changes means you agree to follow the updated guidelines.
